Slippery Rock, Pa. -
Erika McKenna's inspiring 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) win in her No. 4 singles match led The Rock to a 5-4 victory over visiting Malone Tuesday afternoon.
The Rock won four of its six singles matches - three of which came in three sets -- to aid the come-from-behind victory and improve its record to 4-7 on the season.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Ashley Michaux and Ashley Greene got The Rock on the board with an 8-3 win.
Consecutive losses in the second and third doubles matches gave SRU a 2-1 deficit heading into singles competition.
Michaux (6-0, 6-0), Greene (6-1, 1-6, 6-1) and Kate Ingram (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) won their matches to give The Rock a 4-2 advantage.
McKenna's match proved to be the difference-maker for SRU, which lost its fifth and sixth singles matches in straight sets.
The Rock will take a short break before traveling to California, Pa. for a 3 p.m. contest on Thursday.
