Rock falls to Clarion, 64-51

Clarion, Pa. - The Rock improved upon its 87-51 loss to Clarion at Morrow Field House on Jan. 26, but couldn't come out on top as it lost a 64-51 decision to the hosting Golden Eagles Wednesday night.

The Rock falls to 9-15 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC-West with the loss. Clarion, which is ranked at the top of the PSAC standings and has already clinched a conference playoff spot, improves to 20-4, 8-1.

Leading SRU was Stacey Green who posted a "double-double" with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Kristen Bonner contributed 11 points to The Rock cause.

Clarion jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first three minutes of play, but Amanda Chojnacki's layup at the 12:40 mark capped a quick 9-2 run that gave The Rock a one-point advantage.

The Golden Eagles quickly came back with seven unanswered points of their own to take a 15-9 lead with 9:55 to go in the opening session and led by a 29-22 margin at the intermission.

The Rock was able to cut the deficit to four (35-31) with 16:35 to go, but a 22-7 in the next nine minutes sealed SRU's fate.

Seniors Sarah Cybulski, Erin Frankovich and Stacey Green will be honored at Morrow Field House prior to their final home game on Saturday, a PSAC-Western Division battle against Shippensburg slated to tip off at 1 p.m.
