Rock takes No. 17 Indiana, Pa. to the limit but falls, 1-0

Slippery Rock, Pa. - The Rock gave nationally ranked Indiana U. of Pa. all it could handle Tuesday afternoon before being subdued by the narrowest of margins, 1-0, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action on James W. Egli Soccer Field.

Indiana scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute of play to improve its overall record to 11-1-1 and its PSAC-West-leading mark to 6-0-1. The Indians are ranked 17th nationally and third in the Northeast Region in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America polls.

The Rock fell to 7-4-2 overall, 4-1-2 in PSAC-West, and remained alone in second place in the division.

SRU outshot Indiana by an 11-8 margin; freshman goalie Jen McCormick recorded three saves.

The Rock returns to action on Saturday, when it will host Clarion at 2 p.m. in a PSSAC-West contest on Egli Field as part of SRU's homecoming weekend festivities.
