Frankovich scores 16, grabs 9 rebounds to lead Rock past Cheyney, 67-52

Slippery Rock, Pa. - Erin Frankovich, despite coming off the bench for the first time in her four-year collegiate career, had game-high totals of 16 points and nine rebounds Saturday afternoon to lead The Rock to a 67-52 win over Cheyney in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" action.

The win snapped a six-game losing streak for The Rock, which now owns a 5-7 record and played for the second straight game without leading scorer and rebounder Stacey Green.

Green was in uniform for Saturday's game but did not see any action after being cleared to return by doctors following minor surgery.

Cheyney suffered its eighth straight loss and fell to 2-9.

The Rock, which never trailed in the game. took firm control of the proceedings with a 22-5 run in the final 11 minutes of the first half.

SRU enjoyed a 19-point, 37-18, lead at halftime and never led by less than 15 points until the final 30 seconds of action.

The Rock led by 24 points on two separate occasions midway through the final half.

Frankovich was the only Rock player to score more than 10 points, but 12 SRU players saw more than eight minutes of playing time.

Amber McFeely handed out seven assists for The Rock and tied Angela Greaser for the team lead in steals with three.

The Rock hosts Millersville at 1 p.m. Sunday in another PSAC "crossover" game.
