Slippery Rock, Pa. -- Jess Caso scored a career-high 18 points and had a team-high four rebounds and five steals, but Slippery Rock University couldn't overcome 68 percent shooting by Clarion in an 87-51 defeat at Morrow Field House on Wednesday night.
Clarion entered the game with a No.3 ranking in the latest NCAA Division II East Regional poll.
Caso's points came on 6-for-9 shooting, including 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Her previous career high was 12 points against St. Vincent during the 2002 season.
Amber McFeely handed out a team-high five assists.
The Rock's loss drops it to 7-12 overall and 1-3 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division play. Clarion improved to 15-3, 3-0 PSAC-W.
SRU trailed 13-11 at the 13:28 mark of the first half before Clarion went on a 33-8 run to close out the session with a 46-19 lead.
The Rock was outscored by a 41-32 margin in the second half.
Clarion outrebounded SRU by a 36-13 margin for the game.
The Rock will look to improve upon its divisional record when it travels to Shippensburg Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
