Rock opens PSAC schedule with 2-1 win over Lock Haven

Slippery Rock, Pa. - The Rock opened its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schedule Saturday with a 2-1 victory over 16th-ranked Lock Haven on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

The Rock, ranked seventh in the Northeast Region, remained unbeaten and improved its record to 6-0-1 on the season, 1-0-0 in PSAC play.

Lock Haven, which was ranked second in this week's Northeast Regional poll, dropped to 4-3-1 overall and 0-1 in PSAC play.

Each of the three goals in the game were scored in the first half. Justin Riggle scored his fourth goal of the season in the 17th minute to initiate The Rock's scoring effort. Steve Perri's goal in the 27th minute put SRU ahead 2-0 and proved to be the game winner. Both goals were unassisted.

Rock goalkeeper Pat Passewitz stopped 10 Lock Haven shots and earned his sixth win of the season.

Lock Haven outshot The Rock by a 21-18 margin.

The Rock will again test its unbeaten record Wednesday in an away contest at California, Pa. at 4:00 p.m.
