Slippery Rock, Pa. - Sarah Arsenault, Lauren Steele and Sarah Mangiarelli scored two goals each Friday afternoon to lead the 16th-ranked Rock to an easy 7-0 season-opening win over visiting Gannon on James W. Egli Field. Freshman goalie Karrine Riggins recorded 10 saves in her first collegiate game en route to the shutout. The Rock returns to action next Friday, Sept. 3, when they will host Bridgeport in an important regional contest at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
