Junior forward Stacey Green scored a game-high 23 points and junior center Erin Frankovich added 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds in a losing cause as The Rock dropped an 80-57 decision to nationally ranked Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival California U. of Pa.
The loss totally extinguished The Rock's hopes of earning a berth in the PSAC playoffs. The Rock, after earning seven straight postseason berths, will miss the playoffs for the second successive season.
SRU is now 12-14 overall, 4-7 in division action, as it prepares for the regular-season finale on Saturday at Lock Haven. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
California, with the win, assured itself of the PSAC-West championship. The Vulcans are 25-1 overall and 10-1 in conference play.
The Rock played California to a 34-34 stalemate in the first half of action, only to get outscored by a 46-23 margin in the final 20 minutes.
Sophomore point guard Amber McFeely handed out seven assists for The Rock and now needs nine in the final game to break the single-season record of 171 held by Kathy Lisman Wood (1981-82).
