Emma Wright's goal on a corner kick in the 56th minute of the game was the difference in The Rock's 2-0 victory over Edinboro Saturday afternoon at James W. Egli Field.
First-team All-America performer and The Rock's all-time leading scorer, Sarah Arsenault, scored her 19th goal of the season, an assisted score, in the 88th minute to sure up The Rock win.
The Rock improves to 11-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)-Western Division. Currently, The Rock is tied for first place with Lock Haven, but would be crowned PSAC-W regular season champions by virtue of a head-to-head tiebreaker if the teams remained tied at the end of the season.
Wright is second on the team in scoring with six goals and seven assists (19 points).
Freshman goalkeeper Karrine Riggins maded six saves to earn her 10th win and fifth shutout of 2004.
The Rock outshot Edinboro by a 15-11 margin.
SRU completed a miraculous come-from-behind victory at Edinboro in the first meeting between the two teams. Trailing 3-0 with 20 minutes left in the game, The Rock scored four unanswered goals to earn the overtime win.
The Rock will play its last PSAC-W regular season game when California, Pa. travels to SRU Tuesday at 3 p.m.
SRU will close out its regular season schedule at home vs. East Stroudsburg on Oct. 30 at noon.
