Final Stats
Bloomsburg, Pa -
Justin Riggle scored the game-winning goal in the seventh minutes of overtime Saturday to give The Rock a 2-1 win over hosting Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.
The win kept The Rock in the hunt for a PSAC playoff berth. SRU is in fourth place with 10 points behind California (16), Millersville (16) and Lock Haven (13).
The PSAC standings are determined on a point system that awards teams three points for a win and one point for a tie.
The Rock has not competed in the PSAC men's soccer playoffs since 1985, when SRU lost a 6-0 decision to East Stroudsburg in the one-game playoff to determine the conference champion.
Saturday's win gave SRU a 9-5-2 overall record, which is most wins by a Rock men's team since 1977 (when SRU had a 10-8 mark), and a 3-3-1 conference record.
Bloomsburg dropped to 5-12, 0-6.
Riggle was clearly the star of the game for The Rock as he had an assist on SRU's first goal, a tally by Dave Keller in the 24th minute of action.
Ed Mocarsky was credited with an assist on Riggle's game-winning goal.
Bloomsburg outshot SRU by a 26-8 margin, but Rock goalie Pat Passewitz recorded seven saves.
The Rock travels to Geneva for a 7 p.m. non-conference game on Wednesday before hosting conference rival East Stroudsburg in the regular-season finale next Saturday, Oct. 30.
If SRU earns a PSAC playoff berth, it would play a road game on Nov. 3.
