Erie, Pa. - Gannon University handed visiting Slippery Rock University a 3-0 loss Saturday afternoon in The Rock's season-opening men's soccer game.

Rock goalie Brett Saganiec (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township HS) was credited with seven saves; Gannon outshot SRU by a 32-12 margin and had six corner kicks to none for The Rock.

The Rock returns to Erie on Monday to take on Mercyhurst College in a 4 p.m. match at MC's Northeast Campus.
