Junior forward Stacey Green recorded her second "double-double" of the season Sunday afternoon when she scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds in a losing cause as The Rock dropped a 79-66 decision at Ashland University in the final game of the Domino's Pizza Classic.
Junior center Erin Frankovich scored a team-high 15 points while sophomore point guard Amber McFeely had nine points and eight assists for The Rock, which fell to 1-4 on the year.
Ashland recorded its fifth straight win and improved to 5-1 on the year.
The Rock battled Ashland on even terms for the first 10 minutes of action as the score was tied at 21-21 with 9:45 left in the first half. Ashland then took control of things and enjoyed a nine-point lead on six separate occasions en route to a 40-34 halftime advantage.
SRU scored the first four points of the second half to trim the Eagles' lead to two, 40-38, with 19:24 left in the game, only to get outscored by a 15-2 margin in the next five minutes. Ashland never led by less than 10 points in the final 14 minutes.
The Rock returns to action at 6 p.m. on Friday when it will host West Chester University in the first of seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference interdivisional games. SRU entertains Millersville at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
