Mark Hofmeister booted two field goals, including a school-record-tying 49-yarder, to help Clarion University record a 19-17 win over hosting Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division football action.
Hofmeister's 18-yard field goal with 10:47 left in the game accounted for the winning points.
With the win, Clarion closed out its season at 3-8 overall, 2-4 in PSAC-West action. The Rock finished 4-7, 2-4.
Slippery Rock forced Clarion into four turnovers (two fumbles and two interceptions), recorded four quarterback sacks and outgained the Golden Eagles by a 265-251 margin in total offense.
For The Rock, Josh Kniess rushed for 92 yards on 20 carries and scored one touchdown, Chad DeVore passed for a career-high 161 yards on an 8-of-27 passing effort and threw for one TD and Tim Arthurs had three pass receptions for 107 yards and a TD.
Rock kicking specialist John Katsaouni booted his 14th field goal of the season, a 30-yard field goal, with 23 seconds left in the second quarter to set a new SRU single-season record.
Katsaouni's kick gave The Rock a 17-7 lead. Clarion drove to The Rock 32-yard line on the ensuing possession to set up Hofmeister's 49-yard boot.
Jason Warner led Clarion with 49 yards rushing while Brandon Dando passed for 110 yards on a 14-of-25 effort and Pierre Odom had seven catches for 53 yards.
