Junior forward Sarah Arsenault scored an early goal Saturday afternoon to propel 14th-ranked Slippery Rock University to a 1-0 win over visiting Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's soccer action.
Arsenault's goal was her 19th of the season, which established a new SRU record. The goal also moved her into the lead on the all-time points scored list with 105 (45 goals, 15 assists). Her career goals total is also a school record.
Saturday's win improved The Rock's overall record to 12-2-1 and upped its PSAC-leading mark to 9-1-1. Bloomsburg fell to 4-13-0 overall and 3-8-0 in the PSAC.
Arsenault's goal was an assisted by freshman Meghan McGrath at the 7:22 mark of the first half.
Rock sophomore goalie Amanda Wier had seven saves. Bloomsburg outshot The Rock by a 12-11 margin. Bloomsburg goalie Amanda Lawler also had seven saves.
The Rock will play at Gannon at 3 p.m. on Wednesday before closing out its regular-season schedule with a 2 p.m. game next Saturday, Nov. 1, at PSAC rival East Stroudsburg University.
