Jasmine Bailey headlined the Slippery Rock women’s indoor track and field team at the SPIRE Midwest Open with a record-breaking performance in the 400-meter dash, where she was the first collegiate finisher and the second overall finisher in 56.42 seconds. That mark is an NCAA provisional qualifier that ranks 10th among all Division II athletes so far this year and breaks the former SRU record of 57.29 seconds set by Lacey Cochran in 2008. Because Cochran's time was converted to a 200-meter flat track and the SPIRE facility is 300-meters, Bailey's time will be converted down to 57.17 seconds for the official SRU record book.
