Smithco got the most out of his last chance to qualify for the national meet by winning the triple jump at the Allegheny Gator Invitational with a season-best leap of 15.13 meters (49' 7.75"). That mark vaulted him from outside the top 20 on the national leaderboard up to ninth and into a likely qualifying spot for the national championship meet.
