MEN'S PREVIEW  |  Entry List  |  Start Lists
Shippensburg is gunning for its 10th consecutive team title on the men's side and enters the meet as the favorites on paper to complete a decade of wins. The Raiders topped Slippery Rock by more than 55 points last year and haven't been seriously threatened for the outdoor crown since a 5.5-point win over SRU back in 2013. Slippery Rock was the last team to win the title before the current run by Shippensburg when The Rock won it back in 2008. Since then, Slippery Rock has finished second five times and East Stroudsburg has been runner-up four times. The Rock have been the runner up in each of the last three meets.

On paper entering the meet, Shippensburg appears to be favorites by at least 30 points over SRU, while The Rock appear to have around the same margin ahead of East Stroudsburg for the runner-up spot. The Warriors appear to be the only other team that could threaten to top the 100-point mark in the team standings, but Kutztown and Edinboro also looked poised to put up a fight for a high finish in the team standings. Behind those five teams, Seton Hill, West Chester, Lock Haven, California and Indiana look poised to battle for top 10 finishes in what will likely be a tightly contested race to fill out the top 10.

Shippensburg finished the regular season with a whopping 20 individuals that ranked in the top 12 in at least one respective event, four more than Slippery Rock, which had 16 men accomplish the same feat. East Stroudsburg had 11 men rank in the top 12 in individual events, including multiple athletes that led the league. Kutztown had 13 men post top 12 marks in the league and Edinboro had eight men do the same, including multiple men with top marks.

In terms of individual champions, only eight of the 19 individual event winners from last year will return to defend their titles, leaving 11 individual events up for grabs for a new champion in 2018. Edinboro's Corey Wefing did not compete last year after winning the 800-meter run in both 2015 and 2016 and will return to action this year. Julius Rivera, who now competes for IUP, is also a returning champion in the 100-meter dash after he claimed the title while competing for Cal in 2015. One of the top individual storylines of the meet will be watching to see if IUP's Austin Cooper can complete a career-sweep with his fourth straight PSAC title in the 1,500-meter run.

WOMEN'S PREVIEW  |  Entry List  |  Start Lists
Shippensburg is looking for its ninth straight championship on the women's side and enters the meet as heavy favorites to accomplish that task. The Raiders topped Slippery Rock by more than 50 points last year and haven't really been threatened for the league title since a two-point win over SRU back in 2014. The Rock were the last team to win a title before the current run by Shippensburg when SRU claimed its fourth straight title back in 2009. Over the last eight years, Slippery Rock has finished second six times, including each of the last four years. East Stroudsburg and Kutztown each finished second once during that stretch.

On paper entering the meet, Shippensburg appears to be massive favorites by at least 50 points over the rest of the field. While the Raiders may run away with their ninth straight title, the battle for the rest of the top five could be one of the best the league has seen in recent memory. Hosting Slippery Rock will be looking for its fifth straight runner-up finish, but The Rock will be pushed by West Chester, Millersville, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, California, Kutztown and Seton Hill. All eight of those teams are projected to finish within 25-35 points of each other. West Chester, Millersville and Slippery Rock appear to be in the best position to battle for a top two finish, but the others are certainly capable of challenging for those spots with strong performances.

Shippensburg finished the regular season with nearly twice as many athletes posting top 12 marks in individual events over any other program in the league. The Raiders had 21 athletes that ranked in the top 10 in the league in their respective events and Shippensburg finished the year with the top performance in seven different individual events. Kutztown had 13 individuals that posted marks in the top 12 in the league, while West Chester had 11 and Slippery Rock had 10. Millersville had seven athletes post top 12 marks in the league this year, but is projected to finish so high thanks to its dominance in the throws, where Sunflower Greene will be gunning for league titles in the shot put, discus and hammer. In total, Millersville is projected to score more than 60 points in the throws alone.

In terms of individual champions, a total of 14 of the 19 individual event champions from last spring are returning to defend their titles this year, including three women that are looking for their third title in the same event. Ameriah Walters of Seton Hill has won each of the last two 200-meter dash titles and Summer Hill from California has won each of the last two 1,500-meter run titles. Hill also won the 800-meter run last year, while teammate Julie Friend is looking for her third career 5,000-meter title (2014, 2017) and her second 3,000-meter steeplechase (2016) and 10,000-meter  titles (2017). The only other athlete entered this year that also has an individual title to her name from prior to last year's meet is Bloomsburg's Hannah Boudreau, who won the 10,000-meter run in 2015.
