Lauren Impey was named to Daktronics first team All-America honors and freshman forward
Andrea Felix was named to Honorable Mention All-America honors Wednesday afternoon when the Daktronics All-America team was announced from the NCAA Final Four in Evans, Ga.
Impey is one of only four defenders in Division II to be named to first team All-America honors, while Felix is one of just 20 forwards in the country to be recognized among the All-America selections.
The Daktronics All-America team is nominated for and voted on by the sports information directors at soccer playing institutions. In order to be eligible for the All-America team, a student-athlete must earn first team All-Region honors.
Both of The Rock's first team All-Region selections were recognized on the All-America selections, headlined by Impey's pick to the first team. She is the only player from the Atlantic Region to be named to the first team.
Impey, a senior from Northampton, England, continues to add postseason accolades to her resume this fall. She was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, earned first team All-PSAC honors, first team Daktronics All-Region honors, first team NSCAA All-Region honors and first team Capital One Academic All-America honors. She anchored The Rock's back four from the center back spot, a unit that allowed just 73 shots on goal and 12 goals in 21 games. She also finished third on the team in scoring with three goals and a team-high five assists.
Felix, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, earns her fourth postseason honor this fall with the Honorable Mention selection. She was named the PSAC Freshman of the Year, picked to second team All-PSAC honors, first team Daktronics All-Region honors and second team NSCAA All-Region honors. Felix led the team in scoring with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points while playing in just 18 games.
The Rock finished the 2013 season with a 15-4-2 overall record, won their first Atlantic Region title with a 3-0 win over No. 6 California in the NCAA Sweet 16, advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time and completed their 18th consecutive winning season and 16th straight with 10 or more wins.
