Hansen wins pole vault at Mount Union

Jen Hansen won the pole vault to lead the SRU women's track and field team Saturday at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio
-- Jen Hansen won the pole vault to lead the Slippery Rock women's track and field team at the Jim Wuske Invitational Saturday at Mount Union College.

Hansen won the pole vault by a whole foot with a clearance of 3.65 meters. She led a Slippery Rock domination in the event, as SRU placed five athletes in the top-seven. Angela Schroeder, Sarah Reppermund, Jacquelyn Kerr and Kelly Fischer placed fourth through seventh, all clearing 3.20 meters.

Kim Stitt placed second in the shot put with a throw of 11.70 meters. She also placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.07 meters.

Stitt was joined in the triple jump by Jessica Ferrick, who placed eighth with a leap of 10.32 meters. Ferrick also placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.22 meters.

Jen Pace finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:52.45.

Julianna Guido placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.97. She was joined in eighth-place by Jayme Stanek at 1:04.43.

Tayler McCracken placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.60 seconds.

Julia Hubbard placed seventh in the mile with a time of 5:51.46 to round out the top performances at the meet.

The Rock will compete in two meets next weekend, hosting the SRU Open Friday evening at Morrow Field House and traveling to Akron on Saturday.
