MILLERSVILLE, PA—Senior guard Julie Molloy scored a season-high 20 points and recorded four steals on Saturday afternoon as the Slippery Rock University women’s basketball team dropped a 72-53 decision to Millersville. The game is the first of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover weekend.

With the loss, The Rock drops to 3-9 on the season entering Sunday’s crossover game at West Chester before PSAC-Western Division play begins. 

No other SRU player scored in double figures. Freshman Bethany Caudill scored seven points and recorded a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Nikki Presto and junior Grace Palucis both recorded eight points with Presto dishing out seven assists.
 
Raquel Green led the Marauders, now 9-3 this season, with 19 points in 30 minutes. Mashira Newman was a perfect 11-11 from the foul line, finishing with 16 points off the bench. Jenna Craig recorded a double-double with 10 points and rebounds in the win. 

Millersville started the game on a 10-4 run through the first five minutes of the game. The Rock took their first lead off of an Sandra Busser jumper, 11-10, with 12 minutes left in the first half. 

After Green tied the game at 15 off of a free throw shot, Millersville led the rest of the half, finishing the half with a 39-22 lead. 

The Marauders held on to the double-digit lead the rest of the game, finishing with a 19-point, 72-53 win. Millersville shot 46.3% (25-54) from the floor and 50% (5-10) from behind the arch. 

The Rock finished the game shooting 38.6% (17-44) from the floor and 46.7% (7-15) from behind the arch. 

Millersville out-rebounded SRU 33-30 and recorded eight more steals, 18-10, for the game. 

The Rock will travel to West Chester on Sunday at 1 pm for the last game PSAC-Crossover game before Western-Division play begins on Wednesday at Morrow Field House against Mercyhurst.
