SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Mariah Casserly, formerly an assistant women's lacrosse coach at St. Lawrence University, has been named assistant lacrosse coach at Slippery Rock University, as announced by SRU director of athletics,
Paul Lueken.
Casserly joins The Rock staff after serving three seasons as an assistant at St. Lawrence, where she assisted with all facets of the program and spent time during the offseason running camps and clinics.
“We're very excited to bring Mariah to Slippery Rock,” said Lueken. “She brings an outstanding level of experience and knowledge of the game, both as a former standout player and as a coach.”
Casserly, a native of Canton, N.Y., earned her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in 2005. At Ithaca, she earned All-Conference honors in four consecutive years, finishing her career with 136 points (115 goals, 21 assists) and 184 ground balls. She was also a four-time member of the Empire 8 All-Academic team.
Casserly began her duties as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence prior to the 2007 season and remained with the Saints through the spring of 2009. She earned her Master's Degree from the university in May of 2008.
“I'm looking forward to bringing Mariah in and working with her this year,” said Rock head coach Emily Boosahda. “We enjoyed a bit of success last season and we didn't have a single senior on the team. We have a big recruiting class coming in this fall and having Mariah's experience on the sidelines is really going to be an asset.”
Casserly is the first full-time assistant coach in the history of The Rock lacrosse program.
