SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Former Slippery Rock University women's basketball student-athletes Jodi Gault and Jan Kasnevich will be honored during The Rock's Jan, 30 home game vs. Indiana University of Pa., SRU Athletic Development Officer Bill Richter announced Wednesday.
Gault (left picture) and Kasnevich will be the guests of honor at a pregame reception starting at 4:30 p.m. in Morrow Field House and then spotlighted during a halftime ceremony. The events are sponsored by the University Advancement office.
They will be two of three former SRU women's basketball players honored this winter by their alma mater. Kory Fielitz Rorabaugh, The Rock's all-time leading rebounder and No. 2 all-time scorer, will be in the spotlight Feb. 20 during the Green and White's home game vs. Clarion University.
Gault played for The Rock from 1976-78 and concluded her career with 978 points. A 1979 Rock graduate, she was inducted into the SRU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989. Gault compiled a 540-146 record in 25 seasons (1983-2007) as head women's basketball coach at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. Her .776 winning percentage is the sixth highest recorded by an NCAA Division II women's head coach, while her career win total is the 10th highest in Division II history.
Kasnevich was a four-sport athlete at The Rock as a member of the basketball, field hockey, volleyball and tennis teams as an undergraduate. Following graduation, she was named to the U.S. Field Hockey team. Kasnevich also served as The Rock's head coach in both field hockey and softball as well a women's basketball assistant coach. Her 1987 Rock field hockey team advanced to the NCAA tournament, while three of her Rock softball teams earned AIAW national tournament berths. A 1968 Rock graduate, Kasnevich was inducted into the SRU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988.
