LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team placed 11th at the National Invite, hosted by Lock Haven University Friday. The meet was originally scheduled for Penn State, but nearly six inches of snow on the ground forced the relocation of the event.

The Rock finished 11th in the race with a team total of 300 points and was without the services of its top runner from the last meet, Matt Grey, who could not compete due to the schedule change.

Slippery Rock was led by Brian Ulrich in 50th place, covering the 8,000-meter course in 26:51.

The Rock's second runner to cross the line was Jason Leonard, finishing 60th-place in 27:25. Matt Mumford placed 61st in 27:33, followed by Eric Geddis in 62nd at 27:36 and Jon Snowden in 67th at 27:56 to round out the team's scorers.

Slippery Rock will rest next weekend before the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held at Edinboro University Oct. 31.
