INDIANA, Pa. -- The two-time defending champion Rock sat atop the team standings at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at the conclusion of Day 2 of competition.
SRU had compiled 65 points through the completion of Friday's action and leads both Kutztown and Lock Haven, each of which have 59 points.
The Rock effort has been led by two blue-ribbon performances in individual events.
Jennifer Hansen set the school record for the third time in just over a week when she cleared 13 feet, 4 inches and finished first in the pole vault. That height further solidified Hansen's automatic berth in the NCAA Division II national championships later this month in Los Angeles.
Whitney Hendershot improved upon her national-meet provisional qualifying mark when she leaped 5-8 to win the high jump title.
Hansen, who also finished third in the long jump competition with a leap of 17-2.75, led a 1-3-4 finish by Rock women in the pole vault event.
Abby McKissick and
Sarah Reppermund finished third and fourth, respectively, with 10-11.75 vaults.
The other Rock highlight Friday was a 3-4-5-6 finish in the 10,000-meter run.
Nicole Blaesser set a new SRU record with her third-place time of 36:55.26. She was followed across the finish line by Rock teammates
Leslie Kramer (39:02.54),
Crystal Burnick (39:13.14) and
Katie Bork (39:29.16) with fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place finishes, respectively.
The conference championships will conclude Saturday.
