William Rometo (1946) was a standout halfback who played for the legendary N. Kerr Thompson.
After graduating, Rometo played for several semi-professional teams, including the Creighton Tigers and Swissvale Floridians.
Rometo then landed at Plum (where he remained for 32 years) as a physical education teacher as well as the football, basketball, and baseball coach. He excelled as a football coach, leading Plum to an Alle-Kiski Conference Championship in their 1951-52 season. He finished his football-coaching career with a 54-53-11 overall record.
Rometo was also a lifelong member of the SRU Alumni Association.
