Tom Erdos (1968) was undefeated in individual swimming events against conference competition and was The Rock’s team captain for three seasons. He was an All-American in 24 events and was the recipient of the Outstanding Swimmer Award four times. Erdos held virtually every Rock swimming record at one time. He also qualified for the 1968 Olympic Trials.

After SRU, Erdos went to Allegheny College to become the women’s athletic director in 1977. While there, he coached both the men’s and women’s swim teams. As a coach, Erdos produced 256 All-Americans, seven national champions, and was the NCAA Division III Coach of the Year twice (men’s - 1988 -- women’s - 1992).
