Ray Nedwidek (1948) started his collegiate career at Notre Dame before spending his final two years at SRU, participating in football and track. He was the captain of the gridiron team in his senior season and was voted to the All-Time Great Slippery Rock Football Team that was chosen in the early 1960’s.

After The Rock, Nedwidek spent time as athletic officer as well as educational and personal affairs officer in the Marine Corps. He then took a job at Snowden High School to become their head football and soccer coach.
