Slippery Rock University Athletics

Elmer "Tuggles" Gross (1941) was a highly successful football, soccer and basketball coach for more than a quarter century in the East Pittsburgh area. Before entering the coaching profession, he was a player on the undefeated, untied 1939 Rock football team. He is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Coaches Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania State Hall of Fame, as well as the Allegheny-Kiski Valley Hall of Fame. He was one of the founders of the NKT Athletic Scholarship Fund at SRU.
