Bob Skaneski (1973) was a standout shortstop on The Rock baseball team.
Skaneski was named to NAIA All-District 18 and All-PSAC honors in his final two seasons and was a Baseball America Division II all-star as a senior.
Skaneski led The Rock in hitting in each of his final three seasons; he batted .353 as a sophomore, .315 as a junior and .398 as a senior.
He also set the SRU record for fielding percentage by a shortstop when he had a .970 efficiency and committed only two errors in 1971, his sophomore season. He was The Rock's team MVP as a junior and team captain as a senior.
Following graduation from The Rock, Skaneski served as an assistant baseball coach at Hopewell High School, where he helped the team to the 1976 sectional championship.
