Halls nets seven in Rock win
Freshman Amy Halls scored a career-high seven goals to lead The Rock over Edinboro, 13-7

EDINBORO, Pa.
Amy Halls scored a career-high seven goals to lead the Slippery Rock University women’s lacrosse team to a 13-7 win over Edinboro on a cold and windy Saturday.

The game was tied, 4-4, with 7:24 to play in the first half when Slippery Rock scored three straight goals to take a 7-4 lead into halftime. The Rock scored the first two goals of the second period to cap a 5-0 run and put the game out of reach.

Halls finished the game with eight points on seven goals and one assist, while also picking up two draw controls.

Alison Rusnak posted three points on two goals and one assist, while Alexis Slutsky, Katie Roof, Claire Conrad and Sam Huebner each scored one goal.

Ashley Winkelspecht was credited with the win in goal after allowing seven goals and recording seven saves.

Edinboro was led by two goals each from Jolene Quinta and Lauren Kincaid. Erin Balcerzak was credited with the loss in goal, allowing 13 goals and recording seven saves.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 30-24 in total shots, 13-7 in ground balls and 14-9 in draw controls.

With the win, The Rock improves to 3-8 overall this season and completes a season sweep of Edinboro. The Fighting Scots, playing their first season of NCAA Division II lacrosse, drop to 3-8 overall.

The Rock is back in action Tuesday, April 7, when Mercyhurst travels to Thompson Stadium for a 7 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division contest.
