SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University freshman midfielder Gabrielle Malishchak was named Wednesday to the womensfieldhockey.com Division II All-Rookie Squad.

Malishchak was one of 10 rookies from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to be honored.

The All-Rookie honor comes on the heels of Malischak's recent selection as a second-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division performer.

A native of Wanamie and graduate of Greater Nanticoke Area High School, Malishchak finished her first collegiate season as The Rock's scoring leader with 10 points on four goals and two assists. She scored two game-winning goals.

As a team, The Rock finished the 2009 season with a 3-16 overall record, the most wins for an SRU field hockey team since 2006, and a 1-6 mark in PSAC-West action.
