Major accepts position with NFL team
Andy Major has resigned as Assistant to the AD at SRU to become the Buffalo Bills' Executive Director of Marketing
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Andy Major, SRU's Assistant to the Athletic Director for Fundraising and Sponsorships, recently submitted his resignation in order to accept a position as Executive Director of Marketing for the National Football League (NFL) Buffalo Bills.

The new position will be  homecoming of sorts for Major.

A 1988 SRU graduate and former football student-athlete, Major returned to The Rock in January 2007 after serving more than 15 years in the professional sports industry.

Major joined the Florida Marlins front office in 1993 and the Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium operations in 1994 and was responsible for all ticket operations, club level services and guest services areas.

During that time, Major was an integral part of the Marlins' inaugural season, two Marlins' World Series championship seasons, two National Football League (NFL) Super Bowls and three FedEx Orange Bowl college football national championship games.

Additionally, he was involved in numerous special events at Dolphin Stadium including concerts such as the Rolling Stones, U2, Billy Joel/Elton John, The Three Tenors and more. He previously held public relations and sales positions with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Orange Bowl Committee.

Major earned his masters degree in sports administration from the University of Miami in 1991 after he had received his bachelor's degree in communications from SRU.

He was a three-year starter at free safety for The Rock football team.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Andy and his wife Sherry, have three children, Rami, William and Rachael.
